VI. Legislative Business GREGORY (Chukwuocha presenting on behalf of Gregory) #4256 A Resolution Supporting Community Organizations Efforts Pertaining to Workplace Allegations and Concerns such as Harassment, Intimidation, etc. at All Levels of Government Synopsis: This Resolution is being presented by City Council for Council’s review and approval. If approved, the Council would be expressing its support for ongoing efforts by the Interdenominational Ministers Action Council, the NAACP State Conference and the Delaware Faith in Action Council to expose and end all forms of racism, discrimination, harassment, bigotry and sexism in the workplace in State government and in any private or public workplace in the State. The Resolution notes that these efforts to expose workplace discrimination serve as a powerful reminder that such issues do occur, but are unfortunate and unacceptable. DORSEY WALKER #4257 An Ordinance to Amend Chapter 5 of the Wilmington City Code Relating to Providing Tenants with Information on how to Register to Vote in the State of Delaware (1st & 2nd Reading) Synopsis: This Ordinance is being presented by City Council for Council’s review and approval. If approved, the Council would be amending Chapter 5 of the City Code related to rental dwelling units. Specifically, the Ordinance creates a new section of the law requiring landlords to provide information to tenants who are 18 years and older about how to register to vote in Delaware. The information, which can be either electronic or paper copies of the State’s registration application or an electronic link to the State Elections Department website, must be given to all tenants at or prior to the time the tenants take possession of the rental property. The Ordinance notes that with a large portion of the City housing stock consisting of rental units and with a wide gap between those who are eligible to vote and those who are registered, a new voter information law will help increase voter registration rolls and thus improve citizen participation in City government.
